JESSY: LÍDER DEL MOVIMIENTO FEMENINO SALSERO VENEZOLANO

Lo ratifica el premio "Gran Águila de Venezuela-2009"

El éxito alcanzado con el tema "Amor Compartido", además del impactante dúo junto al querido animador de Venezuela, Winston Vallenilla (con la canción "Sólo Aprendí a Sufrir" del compositor Richie Mendoza), el recibimiento de múltiples galardones (Mara de Oro, Gran Águila de Venezuela, Lo Mejor del Año y el Empedrao' de Oro), compartir tarima con grandes exponentes de la Salsa y la música tropical en el mundo (El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, José Alberto "El Canario", Sonora Ponceña, Olga Tañón, entre otros) y ahora, por segundo año consecutivo, recibir el premio "Gran Águila de Venezuela" como "Solista Femenina de Salsa del Año 2009", ratifica a Jessy como la "líder del movimiento femenino salsero venezolano".

Vallenato composer Rafael Escalona dies at 81

Vallenato legend Rafael Escalona died

"Rafael Escalona, the prolific composer and performer of vallenato classics that define the Colombian-born genre, has died of cancer. He was 81.

His son and namesake confirmed Escalona's death on Wednesday at a hospital in the Colombian capital.

Born in the Caribbean state of Cesar, the cradle of vallenato music, Escalona composed his first song at 15 and went on to pen staples such as 'La Casa en el Aire' and 'El Manantial.' His name and work were immortalized in the novel 'One Hundred years of Solitude,' by Nobel Prize winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez..."

International Dance Day in Colombia

Colombia's Culture Ministry serious about Dance:

"Hundreds of dance troupes took to public squares in fifteen of Colombia's departments Wednesday to celebrate International Dance Day.

The Ministry of Culture backed performances of break dance, salsa, tango and local folkloric rhytms in Bogotá, urging downtown office workers to join in the fun and dance on the streets during their lunch hour.

Culture Minister Paola Marcela Moreno, said that over 10,000 dancers performed in the streets of Colombia's main cities on Wednesday. “Once again we have demonstrated that we are a world power in the fields of art and creativity” said the satisfied Ms Moreno. “A country that faces conflict with culture and art”..."
